Lead Pricing Analyst

The Lead Pricing Analyst is responsible for preparing, tracking, monitoring, and managing successful completion of pricing offers for Elixir clients and prospects, responding to pricing related RFP questions, identifying financial needs of prospective and renewing clients, performing underwriting analysis functions, quantifying and explaining impact of various pricing structures to both Elixir and client. Lead Pricing Analyst will also be required to provide consultation to peers, management, and clients with regard to pricing offers and strategy.

  • Track, monitor and manage the implementation of pricing offers provided by internal finance partners to each prospective and current client
  • Ensure timely receipt of client acceptance of a pricing offer by proactively and consistently communicating with company sales and client services partners
  • Identify and consistently monitor the contract terms for all current clients and ensure our team is proactively prepared with a pricing renewal offer 180 days in advance of a client contract end date
  • Create and manage the mechanism used to track pricing offers and validate that accepted offers match our proposal
  • Investigate and resolve any differences between pricing offers and proposals by working with the senior finance team members
  • Understand the flow of funds between the company and its clients, contracted network pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, consultants/brokers, and government agencies such as CMS
  • Understand claims repricing and profit and loss (P&L) models, as well as lead the process for underwriting pricing offers for prospective and current clients
  • Develop the strategy for responding to each RFP by reading and summarizing the critical pricing aspects of each RFP received
  • Request and analyze various financial reports such as retail pharmacy network, formulary disruption, and geo-access reports and integrate the report results into responses to related RFP questions
  • Analyze historical claims utilization and prepare client utilization profiles for the team
  • Lead the preparation of pricing offers to key clients and high priority new business opportunities
  • Calculate potential client savings generated between a current pricing structure and a newly created pricing arrangement
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses (cost/benefit analysis, rate analysis, win/loss ratio, competitive intelligence) to support clients, underwriting, claims, client services, and executive management
  • Provide consultation to clients and peers regarding trends, forecasting and future planning
  • Review and approve, non-complex pricing offers for pricing analyst team
  • Lead the development and implementation of initiatives, as needed, to improve processes and procedures
  • Provide quality control of department deliverables and ensure adherence to SOPs within the department
  • Communicate with team regarding policy and procedure updates, initiatives, and improvements
  • Represent pricing team to all levels of organization, including C-suite as well as regularly participate in executive level reviews and pricing committee meetings
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistical or financial discipline
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years' underwriting and P&L modeling experience
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years' PBM, insurance, or healthcare finance experience
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is able to work with minimal amount of supervision
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Capability to efficiently complete tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills, including demonstrated experience using VLOOKUP, MATCH, INDEX, and nested IF statements
  • Intermediate skills in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry related software programs
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays pursuant with industry demands

  • Crystal reporting and SQL programming knowledge and experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Includes a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
