Astrophysics Inc. is a leading global designer and manufacturer of X-Ray security inspection systems. We currently have an immediate full-time position opening for a Director of Operations located in City of Industry, California.

Job Summary:

The Director of Operations is responsible for driving the production schedule, warehousing, materials management and production at two of our manufacturing facilities in Southern California. Manages personnel and vendors to ensure an accurate plan, efficient warehousing system, just-in-time materials management and efficient production

Essential Duties:

Operations

  • Manage daily Operations activities, including planning, warehousing, materials management and production
  • Responsible for effective recruitment, training, development and retention of key operations personnel
  • Build and manage production team including resource and capacity planning, scalability and risk mitigation
  • Lead operational excellence, including safety, quality, cost reduction, and on time deliveries
  • Serve as Astrophysics ambassador at major industry events, product demonstrations and guest visits
  • Effectively communicate Astrophysics brand, value proposition and operations positioning in presentations
  • Determine work scope, tasks, department budget and detailed production schedules with progress reporting against schedules
  • Improve on-time deliveries and perfect order percentages
  • Provide accurate weekly reports on operations forecast, projected revenue, margins and profitability

Strategy

  • Develop and execute strategic operations action plans to achieve operations targets
  • Continuous cost savings initiatives, including operations process, planning, inventory forecasting, etc.
  • Align operations strategy with management operations targets, growth and company vision
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports and presentations on data analysis, business plan and operations strategy

Business Development

  • Look to other countries for manufacturing potential
  • Identify valuable emerging markets, partners and business opportunities
  • Provide management regular reports and updates on business development

Education and Experience:

  • MBA from an accredited university required
  • 5-10 years operations experience; demonstrated record of Six Sigma
  • Technical background preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategy
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and team building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a high stakes/stress environment. Ability to react to change productively and make sound business decisions
  • Operations experience in robotics a plus
